In September, he shot a commercial for Toyota with his friend Riley Thomas Stewart... although sadly you only get to see the side of Josh's head in the final version of "Rolling Up" for Toyota Highlander! Cute commercial, though, and Josh is happy to have been involved with such a fun campaign.

And Josh's new McDonald's commercial that will tout the Bakugon Happy Meal will be on the air soon. He was thrilled to get to work with a new friend, Isaiah, play with Bakugon toys, and eat Chicken McNuggets over and over again. What could be more fun for an 8-year-old?

If that isn't enough, he just shot a new Christmas commercial for GameStop called "Cool Dad," where he got to see some very cool make-up and hair effects done on his "dad." This campaign should be very funny! We expect that to begin airing in November.

Please help us track these commercials by letting us know if you see any of them!

Look for Josh in the opening scenes...we may just catch an eagerly-awaited glimpse of Chuck's mom!

Josh shot the episode in July, and there was no question about the highlight of his shoot day-- meeting beautiful Yvonne Strahovski, who plays Sarah on the show. They don't have any scenes together, but they managed to meet and chat.

Josh is excited to now be a part of the show's recurring cast, and can't wait for present-day Chuck's next flashback!

In "Live and Let Heal," an episode Josh recorded earlier in 2010, he plays Malcolm and learns about boo-boo's and band-aids. He also recorded the character Luke in an episode about a birthday party. These latest three episodes will begin airing in Summer 2011.

The show has a cult following and lots of dedicated fans, and in my daily automated email update that I get from Google, I keep learning about more and more fansites discussing Young Chuck and Young Ellie, and what the flashback will show. And NBC just announced that they are renewing Chuck for a 4th season (yay!), so excitement is even more heightened.

And now that it's public knowledge that their dad will be appearing on this episode, I can say that Young Chuck and Young Ellie's father on the show is none other than Scott Bakula, from Men of a Certain Age, but who I remember from the late 80s show Quantum Leap! The kids had a great time working with Scott... he was so kind and sweet to them, and very complimentary of their abilities as actors. (We adults enjoyed meeting him too!)

Young Chuck (Joshua Rush) and Young Ellie (Jadin Gould) will appear in the episode entitled Chuck vs. The Ring, Part Two, which will air in the second hour.

The series is in its third season, and for the season finale, there will be flashbacks of Chuck at age 7 (played by Joshua Rush), and his sister Ellie (played by Jadin Gould) at age 11. Josh was SO excited to be cast as Young Chuck, especially since his dad is a fan of the show!

We are sworn to secrecy about anything that happens in the flashbacks, but Josh had a fantastic time on set—he calls it his favorite on-set experience yet. He especially loved meeting the “present day” Chuck, Zachary Levi and comparing “Chucks,” referring to their matching black Chuck Taylor Converse shoes. The show airs as part of a 2-hour season finale on May 24, 2010. Click here for an article from Entertainment Weekly referencing Young Chuck’s appearance in the finale, and click here for behind-the-scenes photos from Josh’s shoot day.

ADR stands for Additional Dialogue Replacement (or Recording), and it is done in the final stages of editing, to smooth out the audio track of the movie. For the actor, it involves matching your voice to what's on a large screen... for example, if the characters are laughing on screen-- you're laughing, too! The episode airs November 18th at 9/8c on CBS, and Josh plays one of three children in a family that is the victim of a serial killer. Most recently, he worked for Sprint for a campaign that will appear in Sprint stores in the fall. All of the shoots were very different, with Clorox being shot on location in a suburban home, and Wal-Mart and Sprint being shot in studios. He had so much fun on all of them, and really enjoyed working with other kids, "on-camera dads," and with different studio teachers, and is enjoying his rediscovered aptitude for print modeling! More photos of the Sprint shoot can be found in the Gallery under Sprint Production Photos.

Red Carpet Appearance: C.A.R.E.
Josh walked the red carpet this past Sunday at Universal Studios Hollywood when he accepted his second CARE Award! The CARE Awards are an annual event produced by BizParentz to honor showbiz kids who are well-rounded... meaning that they have good grades, do volunteer work, etc. The kids really enjoy all the hype, and the parents get to learn more about the "biz." And everyone gets to go to Universal Studios afterwards!

Josh's CARE Award was for his work on the emotional short film The Journal. He is very proud of his work on The Journal, and is proud to receive the award in honor of the film.

Josh did his first publicity interview the week that his Heroes episode aired, with the official Heroes fansite, called HeroesWiki.com. Ryan, the interviewer, did a great job asking Josh about kid-stuff (like what books Josh likes to read) as well as behind-the-scenes stuff. Josh was nervous, but he did a great job!! Ryan said that 4000 people generally read the interviews that are on HeroesWiki... so hopefuly will help to build a nice fan base for "Little Sylar" so that he will return next season... since we now know that Heroes WILL return in the fall-- YAY!

The interview transcript is posted here:

Josh booked and shot a commercial with renowned director Joe Pytka last week. It was an Ad Council PSA for childhood asthma, and Josh shot both the English and the Spanish versions of the commercial. Though we were on set for 8 hours, they didn't shoot his part until the very end of the day-- and it took about 5 minutes to do his lines in English, and another 5 minutes to do the Spanish version! We have no idea when it will begin airing, so please do let us know if you see it. The theme of the commercial is "There's a monster..." and Josh shot his lines in a kitchen setting. In our downtime, we had a lot of fun with other kid actors Elijah and Quinn and their parents, so the time passed quickly!

Josh's episode of Heroes aired this week! We were all thrilled with how much "face time" Josh got! He woke up early the next morning to see the recorded episode, and gasped when he saw how long he was on screen, TWO times!! He really loved seeing how they edited it together, especially since the diner scene was actually shot in two locations... the interior was shot on the Heroes set in Hollywood, and the exterior was shot on location outside of Santa Clarita. It was seamless, and really fun for all of us to watch. And of course, we cheered when we saw Josh's credit at the end!

Lots of people have asked us whether Josh was scared when he shot the part with Little Sylar's mother dying. The cool thing about being on a set is that he gets to see everything "behind the scenes." So he actually hung out with the actress that played his mother off and on for hours before shooting that scene, and for most of that time, she had all of the make up on her forehead. He also saw them squirt the fake blood while she was laying in the dirt. The short answer is-- he wasn't scared at all. Josh is still the same innocent little 7-year-old boy, don't worry!!

We can't tell you much about the episode, of course-- but his character was a co-starring role called "Banana Boy." He especially enjoyed playing with Madison and Miranda Carabello, the twins who share the role of "Marie" on the show. You can see more photos of the shoot in the production photos section of Josh's gallery.
This is Josh's third episodic appearance in just six months of being an L.A. local. Yay JOSH!!

The show is just beginning to delve into Sylar’s past. Josh shot for two days in early December and truly enjoyed meeting BIG Sylar (Zachary Quinto), as well as other members of the cast, and working both on set and on location. The episode airs in March, though there will be a little hint of Josh in the episode on February 2, 2009.
